Power Tips - Using TextMail with Yahoo! Mail
(Please note that Yahoo! Mail currently forwards a limited number of characters per message.)
Step 1: Register Your TextMail address
- From your Yahoo! Mail "Inbox" go to the "Options" section and select "Filters".
- From the "Filters" page select "Register you device" or "Edit/Add New Devices" if you have previously registered a TextMail with Yahoo! Mobile.
- Select "Alphanumeric pager" from the drop down menu.
- “Enter Device Settings" to name your TextMail for easy reference and the number of messages to forward each day.
- Enter your TextMail email address, which is one of the following
- 12digitmobilephonenumber@mysmart.com.ph (i.e. 639181234567@mysmart.com.ph)
- yourname@mysmart.com.ph if you have registered.
- Once you have entered your TextMail email address, hit the "Send" button and a confirmation code will be sent to you through TextMail .
- Enter the confirmation code that was sent to your TextMail address and click on the "Verify My Account" button.
- Your TextMail address should now appear in the "My Mobile Devices" window. Click the "Finished" button and then the "Save" button to proceed with setting up filters.
Step 2: Define Messages to Forward
- From the "Filters" page click on the "Create" button to create a new filter.
- Set the filter parameters to determine which messages should be forwarded to your TextMail . Only messages meeting all criteria of the filter will be forwarded to your TextMail.
- In the "From header" field enter the email address for anyone whose messages should be forwarded to your TextMail.
- If you want to receive messages that were also sent to other recipients their email address in the "To/Cc header" field.
- In the "Subject" field, type a word or phrase that should be contained in the Subject of messages forwarded to your TextMail.
- If you want messages forwarded that contain certain words or phrases in the body of the email messages, enter the words or phrases in the "Message Body" field.
- Select the folder to forward messages to from the drop down menu, inbox is the standard folder to forward messages to.
- Click on the box next to "Forward to my TextMail " to forward all messages meeting the criteria of the filter to your TextMail .
Step 3: Finalize New Rule
- Click the "Save" button to save the filter settings you created. The new filter will now appear on the "Filters" page.
(Please note that the Sender is y-alerts@reply.yahoo.com. Make sure this is in your TextMail Address Book.)
