TextMail USER GUIDE

Note: All commands are sent to 200 unless otherwise specified.

REGISTRATION
  • Registration is optional to use the TextMail service. Default address is mobilenumber@mysmart.com.ph (Ex. 639181234567@mysmart.com.ph). User will enjoy 10MB of storage but will not have access to webmail if not registered.
  • It is still best for subscribers to register to personalize their email addresses.
  • To register: REG <USERNAME> <PASSWORD> <YOURNAME>
  • Registration via web is also available. A verification code will be given and sub has to text the code to activate the TextMail account.
  • To confirm: CONFIRM <CODE>



    ADDRESS BOOK

  • Only messages from email contacts found in the AddressBook are delivered directly as SMS.
  • Sending an email automatically adds the recipient to the AddressBook so that replies to sent TextMail can be delivered directly to the mobile phone.
  • Messages that are pulled using the READ command causes the sender’s address to be added to the AddressBook. Future messages from said contact will be delivered directly.
  • To add an email address to the AddressBook: ADD <EMAIL> <NICKNAME>
  • When viewed, the AddressBook is displayed alphabetically by nickname. A set number is used when list exceeds 3 SMS. ADDLIST / ADDLIST <SET#>
  • Subscribers can check what email address is associated with what nickname and vise versa: ADDVEW <EMAIL> / <NICKNAME>

    BLOCKED ADDRESSES

  • Block an address if messages from that particular address must never reach a subscriber. BLOCK <EMAIL>
  • Subs can block all incoming email turning TextMail into an outgoing mail service. BLOCKALL
  • Subs can view the block list. A set number is used when list exceeds 3 SMS. BLOCKLIST / BLOCKLIST <SET#>
  • Should a sub decided to remove an address from the block list, it effectively allows TextMail to send alerts of new messages coming in from said contact. UNBLOCK <EMAIL>

  • Subs can easy remove all emails from the block list, effectively allowing TextMail to deliver alerts & messages. UNBLOCK ALL

    MAILBOX MANAGEMENT

  • To check number of messages, new messages & mailbox size CHECKMAIL
  • Subs can view a summary of messages in inbox which are messages previously delivered directly to TextMail user. Set numbers are used to view the list exceeding 3 SMS. INBOX / INBOX <SET#>
  • Subs can view a summary of unread messages coming from emails not in the address book. Set numbers are used to view the list exceeding 3 SMS. NEW / NEW <SET#>

    MESSAGE MANAGEMENT – SENDING

  • Sending an email from phone to 200 <EMAIL> (<SUBJECT>) <BODY>
  • Sending an email using a nickname TO <NICKNAME> (<SUBJECT>) <BODY>
  • TextMail uses postfixed access codes. Postfixed codes are unique per contact per TextMail account. These codes can be saved in the phone inbox and sub can send an email as he would a text message by sending it to this code. <BODY> to 200+++++++ (i.e. 200123456789)
  • Like a regular text message, subs can reply by hitting the reply function of their phone. But if they’d want to do it keyword based, they simply use REPLY <MSG#> <MESSAGE>
  • Message numbers are shown in the delivery of the message, in INBOX and NEW.
  • System will recognize the latest message delivered if no MSG# is indicated
  • For the reply to be sent to all original recipients of the message REPLYALL <MSG#> <MESSAGE>
  • To forward the message to another recipient FWD <MSG#> <EMAIL>/<NICK> <MESSAGE>
  • To delete a particular message DEL <MSG#>

    EMAIL DELIVERY

  • TextMail users receive emails as SMS when people email them at <USERNAME>@mysmart.com.ph
  • Should a friend or family member forget the personalized email address, they can use <Mobile#>@mysmart.com.ph and the message will be delivered just the same.

    POP3 ACCESS

  • Subs can access their corporate or ISP emails using TextMail as the email reader.
  • Once set, TextMail will POP the emails for new messages every one (1) hour. POPed messages are then subject to the same AddressBook, Graylist and BlockList filtering.
  • POP uses the <OTHER EMAIL ADDRESS> that the user set as the “Reply To” or “From” when replying to a POPed message.
  • Subs can nominate up to 3 POP3 accounts.
  • To set-up the account, POPADD <SERVERNAME> <USERNAME> <PASSWORD> <OTHER EMAIL ADDRESS>
  • To view the POP accounts TextMail is accessing, POPVIEW
  • To remove a POP account TextMail is accessing, POPCLEAR <OTHER EMAIL ADDRESS>



    ALERTS

  • Alerts are sent as flash and is at no charge to the subscriber.
  • Alerts are sent when there is a new message from a sender not yet in the TextMail sub’s AddressBook.
  • Every week, on a Monday, TextMail polls the mailboxes and alerts the sub of any unread message from the previous week.
  • Alerts are by default ON
  • To disable receiving alerts, subs can send ALERTOFF
  • To resume receiving alerts ALERTON



    ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

  • Subs can easily modify their account details and even bring their TextMail along to another number.
  • Changing a username, changes the email address. Account, mailbox, address book & BlockList are maintained. Message delivered to previous address will bounce. CHUN <OLD USERNAME> <NEW USERNAME>
  • Subs can even change passwords CHPASS <OLD PASSWORD> <NEW PASSWORD>
  • Subs can change the appearance of the name associated with their email address CHNAME <NEW NAME>
  • To transfer the TextMail account to a new Smart number CHNUMBER <OLD MOBILE NUMBER> <PASSWORD>
  • To discontinue using TextMail or close a TextMail account OFF
  • Before turning of the service, sub must confirm by sending his/her password OFF <PASSWORD>

  • Help is available for TextMail subscribers via web and via SMS. send HELP to 200.
